Children’s book illustrator Kim Howard has designed the perfect blend of a Mexican beach vacation and a drawing/watercolor workshop. Designed to appeal to accomplished as well as aspiring artists, Kim’s Travel Journal Adventure is a dazzling mixed-media approach to turning all your future vacations into enriching and creative experiences. With its mile-long beach, narrow streets and lush setting, San Pancho offers an ideal location for observing and recording the daily life of a Mexican village. 

Through fun, rapid and fluid exercises students’ visual memory will unfold quickly, and the irresistible colors and life of San Pancho will come to life on your page. Students will learn drawing skills, watercolor techniques, page texturing and decoration, beginning perspective, value and page composition and the necessary tools to capture landscapes and the human face and figure in just a few quick strokes. 

Howard’s approach to teaching will, perhaps most importantly, help you find the “voice” you need to record not only future journeys but the solitary ones within your own environment.
